Season of Creation: Turning New Leaves Towards a Harmonious Tomorrow

On the sunny morning of September 9th, 2025, teachers from the Science and CLE Departments of Don Bosco School Manila put on a captivating show to officially kick-start the month-long Season of Creation celebration with the theme “Apat na Elemento, Isang Kalikasan: Pagbubuklod para sa Kapayapaan ng Sangnilikha,” which not only left the audience entertained, but also with a call to action.

The skit opened with the majestic introduction of the Sang’gres—the Guardians of the Elements—each echoing the beauty of the gift of creation. Sang’gre Habagat embodied the element of Air. Gracefully, he reminded us that even in stillness, air sustains life. Yet, he unveiled the danger the element of Air might be under if absent-minded practices continue.

Following him, Sang’gre Dagata emerged, embodying the element of Water. She reminded us that the vastness of the ocean is a gift from God, yet it still faces the risk of scarcity.

Not long after came Sang’gre Magayon in an exhilarating entrance, grounded in soil as the foundation of life. Displaying the strength —that is seemingly laced with agony—she feels whenever natural land formations are destroyed and high-rise condominiums take their place.
Finally, Sang’gre Kanlaon—personifying change and power— blazed through the scene, amplifying that as the Element of Fire brings warmth, its irresponsible use can bring destruction.

Their cries for help echoed as a reminder to us to be wary of the actions we take, as even the smallest steps can trigger a ripple effect—putting the gift of nature in danger.

Finally, the skies grew dark and the atmosphere went quiet as Kera Mitena emerged from the darkness—threatening to bring destruction to the Elements. The Sang’gres stood no chance against the powerful Kera Mitena and her guards; still, they fought fearlessly to defend their Elements. After a long, tireless battle, the Sang’gres were forced to face their inevitable defeat. Sang’gre Kanlaon—breathless and struggling— left a message for the Bosconians: the battle against environmental destruction is far from over; the climate clock has not yet struck. Remain hopeful, for through perseverance, change is created.

The skit’s unusual turn of events—defying the expectation of a happy ending—allowed the Bosconians to reflect, leaving them with a message that is often heard, but overlooked: it is our duty to remain guardians of the environment through the small actions we take each day. The fall of the Sang’gres serves as a reminder that although the battle against environmental destruction may seem like too much to bear, it is far from over. As stewards of the environment, Bosconians are called to act with purpose and compassion, embracing their role in protecting the environment.
